Road Trip to Texas

After a not so long, 23 hour road trip from Southern Cali, up through the Grand Canyon, we finally arrived in Austin, Texas.

We usually take the shorter, south route going to Texas but decided to take a little side trip to the Grand Canyon since neither of us had been before. I will say, it was pretty incredible! It is definitely a place we would like to return to some day.

We got a little campsite and set up our tent and fire to spend the night. Even though it was April, it got down to 19 degrees; that night so we snuggled up with the boys to keep warm and luckily we didn't freeze to death.



So after the 8 hours to the Grand Canyon, we had another 17 to go and made it in one swift shot. Steve was awesome for driving the entire way with me in the passenger seat entertaining him.

Once the boys calmed down, they traveled really well. They had their little beds perched on top of our suitcases in the backseat and slept 95% of the time we were on the road.

Now we have a beautiful new (rental) house in Austin and a big, awesome yard for our little boys to enjoy!



It didn't take pong at all for our stuff to arrive. We got into our new home Thursday morning and the rest of our stuff arrived Saturday morning. We all four feel so comfortable in our new home and are enjoying every second of it. No more apartment living for us!

(This took a much longer time to post than expected since our internet took about 3 weeks to  finally get set-up)

Hello everyone! I have decided to start a blog specific to the adventures of Steve my new life together. Yes, it will be about both Steve and I but I will probably be the main one posting ;) As I just graduated college in December, I finally was able to move out to California to be with Steve again after a 3 1/2 year long-distance relationship.  It was a long journey to this point but everything we went through made us stronger as a couple. We also finally had our wedding in February which was great! We appreciate everyone who made the journey out to Texas to celebrate with us and thank everyone who could not make it but sent well wishes. It's been too long...

Before I go a whole year without posting, I figured I should update our blog with all of the fantastic, incredible, exciting things we've been up to...well something like that. We are definitely enjoying being in Austin but between work and school, we don't have too much time for much else. I hit my 1 year mark of being with Kia in June and a year ago, man, I could have never even imagined that I would be here today. I didn't realize at the time but I was being presented with the best opportunity I have had thus far. Steve started back to school in August and is doing everything online now. He is working to get his Bachelors in IT Cyber Security. I am so thankful that he has the military to pay for his education! We've taken up gardening and are growing (trying to grow) tomatoes, spinach, pineapple, lemons, cilantro, parsley and basil. Coming to an End

Steve finally made his safe return home on March 6th around 9pm. There are really no words that describe how it is to have him home. Our family is complete again and it's going to stay that way this time! Our sweet reunion Steve has been stationed in San Diego since 2009 and I moved out here to be with him in 2011 but now, our time in beautiful California is coming to an end. In a little over a week, we will be starting a new chapter of our life in Texas, free of the military. It's kind of bitter sweet for me, I've come to know and love this place but California is just WAY to expensive. We want to be able to build a life somewhere and although we both love San Diego, it's not the right place for us to settle down. I came to love Austin while going to UT and Texas puts us very close to most of my family and much closer to Steve's.
