The Happiest New Year

Oh, what a happy new year it is. I am so thankful for 2016. It flew by so so quickly, it's unbelievable. I have had several changes with my job, in positions, (same company, different location) but all for the better. All leading up to us welcoming our little boy into our lives. Steve got a promotion at his job and is set to graduate with his Bachelor's degree by the end of this year. We found out that we would be expanding our family in 2017 and everything (very thankfully) has gone relatively smoothly.

I am set to go on leave the end of this week to try and relax and finish preparing for Baby Longsword's arrival in approximately two and a half weeks. It still feels very unreal that our lives are going to be completely different so soon but I know it'll be our best adventure yet. We really have everything ready for our little one's arrival but there are still things around the house that I want to get done and be able to deep clean the house as well. My main goal will be walking this baby out as close to 'on time' as possible.

We went in for our final sonogram last week and got to see our little boy a little bit more before we finally are able to see him in person. They told us that is the the perfect size he should be at this point, not too big or too small--but absolutely precious.



Every weekend for the past month, maybe more, we have been booked with baby things to do so it'll be nice to be able to just relax and wait now. This past weekend, we took some maternity pictures and although I don't have them all yet, I do have this preview. (I'll post more when I get them)


Thanks to our friend Rustin for taking his time to do these for us.

It was the most beautiful New Year's Day so everyone was enjoying being outside at the park, although I think we were able to avoid getting anyone else in the pictures. Next time I definitely won't wait until I'm 37 weeks pregnant to take pictures and hopefully I can avoid being so swollen and close to the end. With the holidays and everything going on, we had few options of the time we could take them.

Now, we wait!

Hello everyone! I have decided to start a blog specific to the adventures of Steve my new life together. Yes, it will be about both Steve and I but I will probably be the main one posting ;) As I just graduated college in December, I finally was able to move out to California to be with Steve again after a 3 1/2 year long-distance relationship.  It was a long journey to this point but everything we went through made us stronger as a couple. We also finally had our wedding in February which was great! We appreciate everyone who made the journey out to Texas to celebrate with us and thank everyone who could not make it but sent well wishes. Hello from a distant land.

Hey everybody its me, the MR. So I'm here safe and sound deployed to a far away land full of sand, heat, snakes, scorpions, and good times. It's been pretty hard to adjust to a time schedule but I've already forgotten what day it is. It seems that my days have started to run together and its only been 2 weeks... I think. My days are fast paced and very busy, and I have to keep it that way, otherwise I'll start missing my ole lady :) and my baby pups. Well things are going to be picking up soon but I'm glad I finally got to at least contribute to our little story here. Until next time peeps, who knows when that will be. Peace from the Middle East.

It's been too long...

Before I go a whole year without posting, I figured I should update our blog with all of the fantastic, incredible, exciting things we've been up to...well something like that. We are definitely enjoying being in Austin but between work and school, we don't have too much time for much else. I hit my 1 year mark of being with Kia in June and a year ago, man, I could have never even imagined that I would be here today. I didn't realize at the time but I was being presented with the best opportunity I have had thus far. Steve started back to school in August and is doing everything online now. He is working to get his Bachelors in IT Cyber Security. I am so thankful that he has the military to pay for his education! We've taken up gardening and are growing (trying to grow) tomatoes, spinach, pineapple, lemons, cilantro, parsley and basil.
